Ten years

and 10,000 hours to become an expert (Simon & Ericsson…and more popularly here).

Just a decade of hard work.

That’s it. We don’t need any especial talent. Just drive. That’s a liberating thought.

I’m 22. If I were to only work on one area per decade, I’d have a good six decades left in my life. What kind of expert can I be? Some would say I’m an already an expert at learning. Or Tae Kwon Do. What next?

After my five years at Cornell, I’ll be poised to be a nutrition expert. Possibly even a ballroom dance expert.
