El Camino de Santiago
El Camino de Santiago is a medieval Catholic pilgrimage leading to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and the bones of St. James the Greater. Modern day pilgrims travel the Camino on foot, on bicycle, or on horseback. I walked from Roncesvalles on the Spanish-French border to Santiago de Compostela.
It was the most physically, emotionally, and spiritually demanding experience I’ve ever been through. Regardless of the weather and the terrain and the state of my body, I walked.
The remains of St. James.
I took this picture of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela the following year when I returned to research the pilgrimage for an Honors thesis.
I will walk the Camino again someday.
